About us

We are a hard working, family of eight. Swimming in the sea when we aren't busy on our small holding. Daddy dragon has to work away a lot, so this blog is to let him keep up with our adventures at home.

Afternoon in on a rainy day

The dispatch piggy crew are crazy drivers.

One big bunny gets lots of cuddles,

while she awaits the ambulance.

Finally, help has arrived.

Days fly by

I am not going to try to justify what has kept me from blogging these last couple days. Instead, I will simply show you.

No, not over there!

Yeah, you!

Let me introduce the new characters.

The big lady, is Lilly. She is our 38 month old Anglo Nubian cross goat. The little guy is her 6 week old kid. He has been affectionately named 'Gobo'. He is so soft!

This guy here is Naveen.

He is our 12 month old Saanen.

He is one lucky guy, the hatchlings wanted to name the goats.

Here is the short list supplied by the hatchlings for Naveen:

White

Whitey

Snow white

White meat ball

White nugget

White paper

Paper poop

White light

Big W

Naveen

(I told you he was lucky. Their final vote was for White meat ball!)

Here is our sweetie pie.

This is Poppy. She is our 22 month old Anglo Nubian cross.

She likes to cuddle, which make her my favourite. (Shhhhh!)

The hatchlings and I journeyed off down south to collect them.

Hatchling no4 spent the entire 3 and half hour ferry crossing, telling everyone, over and over and over, my goat go on da boat!

You know how everyone says goats are mischievous.

That should not be overlooked.

Because I just want to share a little that is not in photos.

Like goats jump.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, everyone knows goats jump.

It is a heart attack inducing unique experience to have four goats in a box trailer driving on a narrow cliff... when they jump. It feels like the trailer is going to over turn the whole vehicle, or like perhaps the trailer has become unhitched and has banged into the car.

Nope, just a happy billy goat, showing off to the ladies.

Sigh.

Oh, and goats get sea sick.

For real.

The moment you open the trailer door, they run like wild fire.

You find out how awesome they are at hoping streams, fences, and onto the roof.

I ran my 10k within the first 40 minutes they were home.

I woke up aching like I am 80.

But I have goats.

Maaaaaah dnesss.

Back out this morning

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with beaufort 8 winds. Funky!

Supposedly, tomorrow we get to experience beaufort 9 winds. I am in the process of anchoring our chicken coop.

After a really windy night, all the animals are happily out in their fields again.

Those little lambs are sweet. When they are happy their little tail spin round like propellors.

Oh, and as it turns out duckling love homemade pizza. They practically kill themselves trying to get it down their bills whole. Equally hilarious, is watching them chase one poor duckling with porridge stuck to his bottom.

Kick this crazy up a notch

Well today the cuteness level of our house went up by 12. The crazy factor, well, that just went off the charts.

A dozen little ducks,

so adorable.

The hatchlings

 are pretty excited,

as am I.

These chickens,

they are regal in their markings.

To paraphrase Robert Munch - Chickens are smarter than you think.

I didn't realize this.

So the chickens, they got out.

Chickens on window ledges,

Chickens on the stairs,

Chickens in the kitchen (priceless - the look on the puppy's face as he ran tail between legs into his crate)

Chickens everywhere.

I picked hatchling no 5 up out of his baby swing to keep him out of harms way. Not having turned the swing it off.

The cockerel  perched on the baby gate, leapt onto the swing, and rode it like some sort of poultry surf board. He looked pretty pleased with himself.

The girls freaked... seriously... freaked right out.

Hatchling no 4 and I were in stitches on the floor.

Hatchlings no 1 through 3 charged upstairs screaming.

Hatchling no2 was shrieking 'Whaaaa! We are all going to diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie!

I gently explained that these chickens were their favorite food, and not the other way around.

The three girls are still hidden beneath a duvet, completely unconvinced.

Love is all you need

I have worried a lot about if I can give these puppies all that they need.

But with each day that passes, it becomes clear. I don't have to, because I am not doing this alone.

There is always more to go around.

Maybe sometimes... almost too much!

To Tesco we go

Puppies are sweet.

Puppies are cute.

but puppies make big messes...
when they go toot!

(You didn't actually think I was going to take a picture of that?)

Our weekly shop has become a thrice weekly event.

As we fill the cart once again.

Puppies and small children... what did mothers do before paper towels?

And just because they really were being particularly good.

Here is a pic of my two smallest helpers.

Turns out

That one is not enough.

Harmony comes in pairs.

So we have a new fur ball in the house.

And the girls are thrilled!

Now we just need a name...

That does not belong to a disney princess.

I'm just not sure about Cinderella or Belle.

I think it might go to her head.

Adding to the family

Yesterday, the hatchlings and I piled into the Ford.
Away we ventured down the scary M6.
To bring home some adorable big paws.
